MOTORBIKE TOUR ACROSS KYRGYZSTAN - WELL AWAY FROM PAVED ROADS
ITINERARY
Day 1 Flying to Osh
Day 2 Arrival in Osh
After a comfortable flight via Istanbul, we arrive in Osh in the early morning. We will get a transfer to our hotel where we can get some rest for a few hours. After a delicious lunch we familiarise ourselves with the bikes on a short trip out of town. We stay in Osh.
Day 3 Day trip to Papansee and pass road (about 150 km)
Our first day trip takes us up to Papansee, the water reservoirs of Osh. On unpaved dirt roads we drive South of the city by a green valley and then through one of the many passes. On the good Chinese road to Tajikistan, we return to in the afternoon. We stay in Osh
Day 4 Around the Kaldama Pass to Kazarman (260 km)
The next few days we spend in the Tien Shan mountains. This spectacular mountain range is located on the border with China and gave our tour its name. We cross the Kaldaman pass at 3000m, the road being passable only from the beginning of June. Today’s stage ends in Kazarman, a working gold mining town.
Day 5 The Kayyun Pass and the Khulak Ashu Pass to Tash Rabat Caravanserai
Before we reach Tash Rabat, an old Silk Road hostelry at 3000m we cross the Kayyun and Khulak Ashu passes at 2930m and 3400m respectively. Here, the landscape, the colours and the mountain ranges change almost hourly. We stay in Baetov in a Homestay and the next day in Tash Rabat in a cozy yurt.
Day 6 Naryn
After these few tough days we can look forward to Naryn and to relaxing there in the well-appointed Homestay with showers and nice toilets.
Day 7 Song Kul lake
The next day we ride to the Song Kul Lake. This beautiful lake is located on a vast plateau at 3000m, where Kyrgyz shepherds graze their flocks in the summer months. The night sky up here never fails to disappoint. Take a well-earned rest and gaze at the heavens. We stay in well-furnished yurts.
Day 8 Return to Naryn and continue to Kochkor
We drive on another equally spectacular route back to Naryn and our comfortable accommodation. The next morning our journey continues on to Kochkor. We make a worthwhile detour to the East, following the river Naryn through remote valleys and canyons, and ultimately turn back West towards Kochkor where we will be treated to a beautiful Homestay.
Day 9 Continue to Kyzyl Oi
After Kochkor we get into a wide valley, which becomes tighter and ever more colourful. Our goal is Kyzyl Oi. Anyone interested can still take a detour to the old mining town of Ming Kush. This secluded resort is particularly worthwhile for photographers.
Day 10 Hochebne Suusamyr and Arabel Pass to Lake Toktogul
From the Hochebne Suusamyr and Arabel Pass at almost 3400 meters above sea level, we go down to the Toktogul lake, where thanks to the warmth of the water, we can have a refreshing swim. Our hotel is located directly on the shores of this vast reservoir.
Day 11 Arslanbob
Our return leg to Osh is interrupted by a visit to Arslanbob. This village is located in the world’s largest tree nut forest. There is a scenic Homestay with very friendly hosts.
Day 12 Osh and departure
We spend the last day of our Kyrgyzstan Tien Shan tour in Osh. We have time for a bazaar visit or a city tour and a toast to a successful tour. Early the next morning we transfer to the airport.
